I received my first white German Shepherd as a gift from a dear friend while visiting St. John's Newfoundland during a St. Patrick's Day celebration. Patty was a beloved family pet and great running partner for almost 13 years. Although she never can be replaced, we wanted to continue the joy a dog can bring a family, so brought Dakota into our lives in March of 2007. A couple months after that, we brought Dakota's mom, Diamond, to live with us. Both girls are from Eclipse Kennels. The name "di-da" stands for Diamond and Dakota, our beloved girls of today.
Dakota was bred to Atlas of Atlas Kennels in April of 2009. Dakota's first and Atlas' tenth litter was born the 4th and 5th of June, 4 girls and 3 boys. Grandma Diamond helped mother the pups as the gentle matriarch of the pack.
Diamond and I visit the Ronald McDonald House and also participate in the Rochester Library Sit Stay and Read program. It is very rewarding to see the joy on young people's faces as they interact.
Donna from Eclipse and Tracie from Atlas Kennels have been great coaches as we've entered into the show ring and into the breeding world. I plan on entering Dakota in obedience trials next, continue working with Diamond as a therapy dog, and look into tracking work for either or both of my girls.
We are currently a member of the White German Shepherd Dog Club of America.
The picture to the right is of Patty when we took her to Apache Mall to visit Santa for Christmas of 2001.
